On April 18, Yuhu Cold Chain (Changsha) Integrated Service Centre was officially launched. The event was attended by Changsha Vice Mayor Zheng Ping, and other key officials from Government departments along with Zhong Huihong, President of Yuhu Cold Chain, and executive Zhang Wei. Together they witnessed the signing ceremony with the first batch of merchants at the Yuhu Cold Chain Changsha Park.
Throughout this process, governments at all levels in Hunan Province, Changsha City, Changsha County, and the Pilot Free Trade Zone have placed high importance on the development of the Yuhu Cold Chain Changsha project. In May 2023, the provincial governor led a delegation to visit Hong Kong Yuhu Group for discussions, establishing the foundation for the Changsha project. In July last year, Changsha's mid-year key work review and third-quarter major project concentrated groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Changsha project site. Key provincial and municipal leadership were present at the project groundbreaking and highly praised the international high-standard cold chain park construction planning and the business model of the Yuhu Cold Chain Changsha project.
In Zhong’s speech, the President of Yuhu Cold Chain mentioned that the Yuhu Cold Chain (Changsha) Integrated Service Centre will better leverage resource aggregation and element integration advantages to attract major companies in food processing, pre-made dishes manufacturing, cold chain logistics, and e-commerce platforms. This will help construct an efficiently coordinated industrial chain, drive regional food industry cluster development, enhance agricultural product circulation efficiency and added value, promote Changsha's high-quality development, and assist in the transformation and upgrading of the cold chain industry in Changsha and the central region.
A local official pointed out in his speech that the Yuhu Cold Chain (Changsha) Trading Centre is a benchmark foreign investment project in Hunan Province. Its successful establishment will have far-reaching effects on improving regional cold chain logistics infrastructure networks, enhancing cold chain logistics service levels, and promoting agricultural product circulation and agricultural industry upgrades. It will also accelerate the formation of new billion-yuan industrial clusters in the surrounding free trade airport area. He expressed hope that Yuhu Cold Chain would use the launch as a new starting point to become a guardian of "Quality Changsha" by building a full-chain food safety system from "first mile" to "last mile"; a pioneer of the "open highlands" by leveraging the advantages of the airport hub and the pilot zone for in-depth China-Africa economic and trade cooperation to help build a "buy global, sell global" supply chain platform; and a leader in "smart logistics" by accelerating the application of new technologies such as blockchain traceability and unmanned delivery, actively striving to create a national cold chain logistics innovation centre.
During the event, the first batch of eight companies signed agreements with Yuhu Cold Chain Changsha, covering various segments of the industrial chain including frozen product wholesale, pre-made dishes processing, cold chain transportation services, and fresh food e-commerce platforms. These include both traditional frozen food merchants deeply rooted in the local market and emerging pre-made dish and e-commerce brands, demonstrating the Changsha Trading Centre's appeal in attracting diverse chain-leading enterprises. A business representative stated: "Yuhu Cold Chain's intelligent warehousing and full-temperature control system can effectively solve our long-standing warehousing loss problems, while the one-stop service with full-chain integration can help us greatly improve efficiency and reduce operating costs."
In a media interview, the General Manager of Yuhu Cold Chain Changsha stated that the project represents an important strategic layout for Yuhu Cold Chain in the central region. Once completed, it will become the largest and most technologically advanced cold chain food supply chain hub in the south-central region. With Yuhu Cold Chain's pioneering integrated online-offline transaction model, it will accelerate the domestic and international integration, modernization upgrade, and refined operation of the cold chain food supply chain. This will promote the development of new quality productivity in the industry, facilitate two-way circulation, actively promote domestic supply-side ingredients to align with international standards, ensure cold chain food supply safety, provide strong support for cold chain food supply chains in Changsha and the entire south-central region, and establish an efficient channel for local specialty agricultural products to "go out" and high-quality global products to "come in."
The Yuhu Cold Chain Changsha Trading Centre covers an area of 400 mu (approximately 66.7 acres) with a storage capacity of 280,000 tonnes. Centered around four functional blocks—"display and trading area, cold chain warehousing and delivery area, import-export trade service area, and business supporting area"—it establishes a full-chain value-added service system that combines diverse online transactions with efficient offline fulfillment. From source procurement to terminal distribution, it builds a fully traceable food industry ecosystem for suppliers, distributors, e-commerce platforms, and end customers.
