On May 27, 2025, Yuhu Cold Chain (Jieyang) Trading Centre, also known as the Jieyang International Agricultural Products Trading Centre, officially launched its trial operations for the fresh produce zone. This milestone marks a significant step forward in digitizing agricultural product circulation in Jieyang and the greater Eastern Guangdong region, supporting the region’s agricultural supply chain upgrade.
Strategic Location for Efficient Distribution
Situated at a prime transportation hub near Jieyang Port, Chaoshan Airport, and major highways like Shantou-Kunming Expressway, the Jieyang facility is less than 2 kilometers from the nearest highway exit. Leveraging these logistical advantages, the centre has established a high-efficiency agricultural product circulation network, enabling goods to reach key markets in Eastern Guangdong within an hour.
The fresh produce zone, a core feature of the centre, boasts nearly 400 stalls, achieving an impressive 100% occupancy rate. Close to 100 enterprises specializing in fresh vegetable distribution have already set up operations here, offering a diverse range of produce to meet consumer needs. On the first day of pilot operations, the centre recorded nearly 1,000 vehicles entering the market and over 200 deliveries. During this phase, Yuhu Cold Chain has introduced a range of incentive policies to enhance the trading experience, reduce circulation costs, and ensure efficient supply chain operations.
A Pioneer in Digital Supply Chain Development
The launch comes in alignment with a national initiative released by China’s Ministry of Commerce and other government departments to accelerate the digital transformation of supply chains. The initiative emphasizes the integration of smart technologies to modernize agricultural product markets and improve cold chain logistics. Yuhu Cold Chain (Jieyang) serves as a leading example of this vision, implementing cutting-edge technologies like IoT and AI to optimize operations.
Speaking with Jieyang News, Yuhu Group Chairman Mr. Huang Xiangmo highlighted the significance of Jieyang’s Chaoshan region as a densely populated area rich in specialty agricultural products. He noted that the region’s thriving food and beverage industry and food processing sector demand higher standards for quality control and freshness. Yuhu’s forward-thinking approach in Jieyang incorporates a state-of-the-art digital cold chain centre that not only ensures food safety but also supports the branding, standardization, and internationalization of Jieyang’s agricultural products.
Government Support and Regional Impact
Mr. Zeng Fengbao, the city's Communist Party secretary has visited the Yuhu Cold Chain headquarters and the Jieyang facility. He emphasized the importance of Yuhu Cold Chain as a leading enterprise in driving regional economic growth. Mr. Zeng urged the company to strengthen its role as a key player in improving agricultural product circulation systems and promoting industry upgrades. He reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to optimizing the business environment, introducing more supportive policies for farmers, traders, and processors to thrive in the Jieyang facility.
With its strategic planning and strong government backing, the Jieyang park provides efficient distribution for high-quality vegetables, grains, oils, and specialty products like Chaoshan beef balls, Puning fried tofu, and Lujiang pork trotters. By doing so, it supports rural revitalization, increases farmers’ incomes, and extends the local agricultural value chain. The facility has also fostered collaboration with nearly 1,000 upstream and downstream businesses, creating a robust supply chain ecosystem that drives sustainable development and regional economic growth.
Phased Launch and Future Plans
The Jieyang International Agricultural Products Trading Centre spans 315,000 square meters land area, with counted floor area of approximately 320,000 square meters and cold storage capacity of 65,000 tonnes. It integrates international cold chain food trading, Chaoshan specialty food experiences, pre-prepared food processing, and smart logistics.
Under a phased development plan, the southern section of the trading centre will be fully operational by the end of 2025, with the northern section completion in 2026. Once fully launched, the facility will leverage its digital operations and comprehensive supply chain services to establish a “smart supply chain community” in collaboration with local governments and industry partners.
Through innovative initiatives like smart cold chain storage, expanded cross-border trade channels, and cultivating pre-prepared food ecosystems, the Jieyang facility aims to enhance the region’s economic influence and competitiveness. By helping Chaoshan’s specialty agricultural products transition from “farm fresh” to “globally fresh,” Yuhu Cold Chain is injecting new momentum into sustainable regional economic development.
