On 6 May, Xu Wenhai, Member of the Party Leading Group and Vice Chairman of the Hubei Provincial People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, led a research delegation to Yuhu Cold Chain’s Shenzhen headquarters, where he held talks with Huang Xiangmo, Chairman of Yuhu Group. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on deepening project development in Hubei, promoting the efficient distribution of Hubei agricultural products, and advancing the high-quality development of cold chain logistics.

Huang Xiangmo extended a warm welcome to Xu Wenhai’s delegation. He noted that the Yuhu Cold Chain (Wuhan) Trading Centre commenced trial operations in Hubei in September last year, and that the Xiangyang Trading Centre has also begun trial operations — both designated as provincial key projects. The successful advancement of these projects, he said, reflects the strong and consistent support of Hubei’s government at all levels, and stands as a model of efficient government–enterprise collaboration.
With nine trading centres now established across the Greater Bay Area, Southwest China, Central China, and the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region, Yuhu Cold Chain is poised to enter a new phase of seamless interconnection across its eight operational trading centres. This nationwide network is well positioned to serve Hubei’s agricultural export needs — reducing logistics costs and shortening the distribution chain. Huang Xiangmo noted that Hubei is a major agricultural province endowed with quality products including crayfish, freshwater fish, and beef, yet these products face challenges in reaching external markets, including supply chain barriers and limited brand recognition. Platform-based enterprises of national reach are needed to strengthen the supply chain ecosystem.
Huang Xiangmo affirmed that Yuhu Cold Chain will continue to leverage its dual-drive approach — capital-intensive asset deployment and a digital and intelligent platform — to actively promote the efficient nationwide distribution of Hubei agricultural products, providing platform support for brand development, standardisation, and cold chain optimisation. These efforts will help integrate Hubei’s agricultural resources, drive industrial upgrading, and ensure that the best of Hubei’s produce reaches markets across China and around the world.

Xu Wenhai commended Yuhu Cold Chain’s high-level strategic vision and its innovations in agricultural product distribution models. He spoke highly of Yuhu’s deeply integrated online-offline development model, noting that its approach to combining domestic and international circulation is both forward-looking and exemplary — aligned with central government strategy and consistent with the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind.
He emphasised the need to restore Wuhan’s historical status as a commercial hub, noting that the traditional advantage captured in the saying “goods reaching Hankou come alive” (貨到漢口活) must be revitalised through modern logistics systems, and that Wuhan’s well-developed transport infrastructure gives it a solid foundation to connect the nation and support dual circulation.
Xu Wenhai stressed that transforming Hubei agriculture from “large in scale” to “strong in capability”, and building a modern, branded, platform-based distribution system, requires platform enterprises such as Yuhu Cold Chain to integrate resources and achieve efficient coordination between online trading and offline fulfilment — raising the overall level of supply chain modernisation. He noted that the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has designated Yuhu Cold Chain’s project as a landmark major foreign investment project, and expressed his hope that the company would continue to deepen its commitment in Hubei — using Wuhan as a strategic anchor to drive end-to-end upgrades across the agricultural supply chain from field to table, and helping Hubei build a national-level agricultural products distribution centre.
